Closed cell EPDM sponge\n<\/h2>\nEPDM<\/strong> is a type of synthetic rubber used in a wide variety of applications.\n\nIt has excellent resistance to heat, ozone, outdoor weather, UV rays and aging. It also has very good compression set and it behaves well with polar chemicals. Excellent electrical insulation<\/strong> and good tear resistance.\n\nOn the other hand<\/strong> it is not suitable when used in contact with hydrocarbons, mineral and synthetic oils and grease, halogenated solvents. In addition to EPDM, we have so-called “blend” materials, i.e. made with the addition of other polymers to the ethylene-propylene mix which partially alter their characteristics.<\/p>\n

Thus, for example, EPDM-CR has a softness and resistance to oils higher than that of pure EPDM but lower than that of neoprene.<\/p>\n

The EPDM-NR-SBR copolymer, on the other hand, has a better mechanical resistance than EPDM, however with a lower resistance to bad weather and a generally lower cost than EPDM.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

EPDM is used extensively in outdoor applications, ie windows joints and seals, with high temperatures especially in the presence of hot water or steam (radiators, flexible pipes and wire protections), in construction. It is compatible with the majority of photographic products and it can be used in speakers and various mechanical and automotive applications, even when in contact with brake fluids, as well as in lighting systems.
